UMBC Athletics Signs Baseball, Men's Soccer, and Swimming and Diving Head Coaches to Four-Year Contract Extensions Through 2011-2012 Season

  • UMBC Baseball Head Coach John Jancuska Release
  • UMBC Men's Soccer Head Coach Pete Caringi Release
  • UMBC Swimming and Diving Head Coach Chad Cradock Release

BALTIMORE—UMBC men’s soccer head coach Pete Caringi, men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Chad Cradock and baseball head coach John Jancuska have signed multiple-year contract extensions, Director of Athletics Dr. Charles Brown announced recently.

The trio has been absolutely dominant in coaching their respective sports for the Retrievers as Caringi has amassed 14 winning seasons in his 17 years at UMBC with over 150 victories, Cradock has led his men’s and women’s teams to a combined 13 overall league titles in seven years and Jancuska is UMBC’s all-time winningest coach with 654 career victories in 31 years.

“It is a pleasure to extend the contracts of three, high-level, experienced coaches and it is an example of the stability within our athletic department,” Brown said.  “That stability translates into a strong statement about our concern for the welfare of our student-athletes.  John, Pete and Chad are experts in their field; they are tremendous role models for their respective student-athletes and I am sure we will have continued success in those sports.”

Each of the coaches has signed a four-year contract extension and will remain with the Retrievers through the 2011-2012 academic year.
