UMBCRetrievers.tv, Other Website Enhancements Planned for UMBC Athletics

10/29/2007

UMBC Athletics will revise its website, UMBCRetrievers.com, and display several new and exciting features to Retriever fans over the next several weeks.

Highlighting the enhancements will be the creation of UMBCRetrievers.tv. This site will allow viewers to see all of the action of most men’s and women’s basketball home contests and hear the call of the game by UMBC broadcasters Gary Stein, Paul Mittermeier and Troy Green. Designed and supported by the Pack Network, LLC, UMBCRetrievers.tv will also feature other video clips of UMBC student-athletes, coaches and more. The best part is that for the 2007-08 season, access is completely free! Viewers must have QuickTime installed on their computers and high-speed internet access to view the content (dial-up will not work).

UMBCRetrievers.tv will be accessible as a link from UMBCRetrievers.com. That site, originated and now redesigned by AmercanEagle.com, will also undergo some aesthetic improvements and additions in content. The events calendar will be redesigned to include results from the most recent contests. In addition, more information will be available in each news release, as a mention of a student-athlete’s name will link to his or her bio page, and each sport’s Info Center will also be present in stories about that sport.

UMBCRetrievers.com will also feature RSS feeds, by which all releases will be syndicated to other web sites. Free social content websites such as Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Newsvine and Send to a Friend functionality will be added to all stories.

“We are very excited about our new website capabilities and how we will be able to bring even more of UMBC Athletics to our supporters,” Director of Athletics Dr. Charles Brown said. “I hope our community takes advantage of all of the upgrades that we’ll provide.”
