Men's Cross Country Finishes 13th at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships

    STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded the 2010 season Saturday at the 2010 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. The men finished 13th with a score of 347, while the women placed 19th with 585 points.

     

    The women finished in the same position they did a year ago, while the men improved seven places from 2009’s 20th-place finish.

     

    Junior Sam Boimov (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg/Salisbury) led the men across the line, placing 41st overall in a 10K time of 31:33, while freshman Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) finished 59th in 31:54.

     

    Rounding out the scoring five were senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) in 73rd, senior Chris Bowie (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) in 82nd and junior Roy Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore), who finished 95th.

     

    On the women’s side, senior Sara Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University) crossed the line first for the Retrievers in 50th overall in a 6K time of 22:05, while junior Keri Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) was next in 106th overall in 23:04.

     

    Senior Cortney Crouse (Union Bridge, Md./Linganore) placed 150th, while freshman Cody Mezebish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and sophomore Laura Blevins (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finished close behind, rounding out the scoring five in 153rd and 155th, respectively.

     

    Princeton won the team title on the men’s side, while Villanova won the women’s regional championship.
