Men's Cross Country Finished Fourth at Mount St. Mary's Dual 5K's on Friday

    EMMITSBURG, Md.—The UMBC men’s cross country team opened its 2009 season at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s Friday, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a dual record of 1-4.

     

    Freshman TJ Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) crossed the line for the Retrievers first and 17th overall in a time of 16:13.75. Fellow freshman Josh Day () placed 21st in 16:24.09, while freshman Aristotle Johnson (Dover, Del./Dover), sophomore Roy Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore) and freshman Michael Glassman (Baltimore, Md./Lock Raven) rounded out the scoring five for UMBC.

     

    American won the meet with a record of 5-0, Navy was second with a record of 4-1, while George Washington was third. UMBC tied with St. Francis (Pa.) and the Mount.

     

    The Retrievers return to action Sept. 12 at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md..
