2008: Scored in every meet for the Retrievers, including second at the America East Championships, where he finished 14th overall in 26:15.20… Posted a career-best 8K time of 25:09.80 at the Princeton Invitational… Best finish of the year was 4th at the Towson Invitational… Awarded the Unsung Hero honor at UMBC’s Varsity Awards Banquet in May… Earned the Retriever Club Scholarship at the same ceremony… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2007: Scored in every meet for the Retrievers, including crossing the line first at the Navy Invite with a career-best time of 25:37.50 for the 8K course, finishing 31st overall… Also posted a career-best 10K time at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, where he finished 134th with a time of 33:16… Was the second Retriever to cross the line at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s, Lehigh Paul Short Run and William and Mary Tribe Invitational… Finished 30th overall as the fourth Retriever at the America East Championships with a time of 27:21.70 for the 8124-meter course.
2006: Finished as one of the top-five scoring Retrievers in four of six meets during his inaugural season… Highest finish came at the first meet of the year, where he finished 14th at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s and was the fourth Retriever to cross the line with a time of 16:47.8… Ran his best 8K time of 26:52.4 at the America East Championship where he finished 53rd… Also ran a 34:19.8 10K at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship.
Background: A four-year letterwinner at South River H.S. in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field… Named to the 2004 All-Anne Arundel County Cross Country team by The Capital Gazette and Washington Post… Also named Second Team All-Anne Arundel in indoor and outdoor track… Helped his team to a 2005 cross country state championship appearance… Lists his best performance as a 10:03 in the 3200-meter run at the 2005 Bob Golliday Invitational… A South River Scholar-Athlete froom 2001-2005, AP Scholar in 2004, and AP Scholar with Distinction in 2005.
Personal: One of two children to Elliott and Nancy Madison… Has a twin brother Ben (21)… Was turned away from the UMBC cross country team in 2005, but has become one of the top distance runners… Double-majoring in mathematics and economics and plans to become an actuary… Born September 4, 1987.
