2014 Season Outlook: Senior Eric Schuler (Columbia, Md./Reservoir) and junior Hassan Omar (Frederick Md./Thomas Johnson) should pace the squad in 2014. Schuler was named the America East Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete for the fall 2013 season, after being selected to the America East All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year.  He holds a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average (GPA) while majoring in computer science.  In the first meet of the 2013 season, the America East Pre-Conference Meet at Binghamton, Schuler took the top overall spot as UMBC put the league on notice by winning the team competition.

Omar was an America East All-Conference runner after placing third overall at the conference meet at Binghamton. He was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team and was selected to the America East All-Academic Team.

Junior Austin Hayslett (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) is also primed for an excellent season. Hayslett finished 14th, UMBC's fourth finisher, in the America East Championships.
