Gilreath Earns Bronze in Triple Jump as Track and Field Completes Action at IC4A/ECAC Championships

    PRINCETON, N.J.—The UMBC track and field teams competed at the IC4A/ECAC Championships over the weekend on the campus of Princeton University.

     

    Senior Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) earned bronze in the triple jump with a leap of 15.23m (49’11.75”), while fellow senior Brian Pendleton (Aberdeen, Md./Harford Tech) placed 16th at 14.55m (47’9”). Pendleton also finished 30th in the long jump with a mark of 6.68m (21’11”).

     

    Senior Justin Acker (Bowie, Md./Bowie/Salisbury) placed 21st in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.85. Fellow senior Antonio Thomas (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) placed 17th in the 200 in a time of 21.69.

     

    Senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) finished 24th in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.38, while fellow senior Camal Pugh (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) also finished 24th in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.88.

     

    The 4x100-meter relay team of seniors Acker, Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie), Jason Powell (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and Thomas placed 11th in a time of 41.06. The 4x800-meter relay of Christmas, sophomores Roy Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore) and Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) and junior Chris Snyder (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg) finished 20th in 7:42.39.

     

    On the women’s side, sophomore Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) qualified for the semifinals in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.29 and finished 12th.

     

    Senior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finished 23rd in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.35 and 33rd in the 200 in 25.24.

     

    Senior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) finished the 5,000-meter run less than a second above the school record in 17:07.95, good enough for 14th place, while fellow senior Suzanne Gabriel (Falls Church, Va./McLean) placed 24th.

     

    Freshman Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) placed 16th in the shot put with a throw of 12.99m (42’7.5”).

     

    The 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Fallon Rovel-Jones (Owings Mills, Md./New Town), freshman Ashley Ajayi (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton), Colbert and Foreman placed 16th in a time of 47.84.
