Track and Field Completes Day One of Colonial Relays Friday

    WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—The UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the first day of action at the 2010 Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. Friday.

     

    Senior Brian Pendleton (Aberdeen, Md./Harford Tech) placed ninth in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.76m, while sophomore Aaron Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dematha) finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 14.29m.

     

    Senior Justin Acker made it to the semifinals of the 100-meter dash and qualified for the IC4A Championships in a time of 10.73. He finished 11th in the semifinals.

     

    On the women’s side, senior Suzanne Gabriel (Falls Church, Va./McLean) finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC-qualifying time of 17:12.76.

     

    Sophomore Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.45, while senior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) qualified for the semifinals in the 100-meter dash, finishing 11th in 12.32.

     

    Sophomore Kiki Malomo-Paris (Northern Ireland/Glenlola Collegiate School) hit a mark of 5.47m in the long jump, good enough for 10th.

     

    The action continues Saturday with the relays starting at noon.
