NEW YORK, N.Y.-The UMBC men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed in their final meet before next week’s America East Championships at the Rider/Lafayette Winter Games in New York, N.Y. Friday. The meet saw the Retrievers earn three wins and three more UMBC athletes qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championships in March. Junior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) won the 1-mile run in an ECAC qualifying-time of 4:55.18, while junior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and freshman Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) won the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles, respectively. On the men’s side, freshman Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:05.11, while sophomore Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) finished third in the triple jump with an IC4A qualifying-mark of 14.74m. Junior Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie) set a UMBC-season best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing third in 22.15, shortly after finishing second the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.90. Full results will be posted as they come available. The Retrievers return to action next weekend for the American East Championships, hosted by Boston Univeristy.
