2008 Cross Country: Scored for the Retrievers in three out of five meets… Finished 48th in the 8K run at the America East Championships… Ran a season-best 26:04.50 at the Princeton Invitational… Finished 11th in 27:31 at the Towson Invitational… Helped the Retrievers score a win the season-opening at the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals, finishing in seventh.

2008 Outdoor: Placed 14th in the 800-meter run and was part of the third-place 4 x 800m relay team at the America East Championships... Finished sixth in the 800-meter run at the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational.

2007-08 Indoor: Finished sixth in the 800-meter run and was part of the first-place 4 x 800m relay team at the America East Championships… Placed fifth in the 800-meter run at the Terrapin Invitational… Finished eighth in the 500-meter dash at the Gulden Relays.

2007 Cross Country: Competed in only four of the Retrievers’ six meets during the season, but scored in three of them… Recorded a career-best 26:48.40 in his first 8K of the season at the Navy Invite, where he was fourth for the Retrievers and rounded out the scoring five at both the William and Mary Tribe Invitational and the America East Championships… Finished 50th overall at the conference meet with a time of 28:46.40 for the 8124-meter course… Also ran a 5K time of 17:12.07 to start the season at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s for a 28th place finish.

2007 Outdoor: Did not compete due to injury.

2006-07 Indoor: Competed in four meets for the Retrievers, finishing ninth in the 800-meter run at the America East Championships, and was part of the seventh-place 4 x 800m relay at the same meet… Also competed in the 800 at the Lafayette/Rider Invite, the Terrapin Invite, and the GMU Patriot Games… Ran a season-best time of 1:57.06 in the 800 at the Lafayette/Rider Invite.

2006 Cross Country: Saw action in four of the Retrievers’ six meets, including the America East Conference Championship… Earned a spot on the conference team after crossing the line seventh for the Retrievers at the William and Mary Tribe Open… Ran a time of 27:25.3 in the 8K at that meet… Finished 71st at the America East Championships with a time of 28:11.8… Ran a 17:13.3 to start the season at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s, where he finished 21st… Also competed in the Navy Invitational.

2006 Outdoor: Competed in four meets for the Retrievers, including turning in a 17th-place finish in the 800-meter run at the America East Championships… Ran his season-best time of 1:58.42 in the 800 at the Duke Invite, and his season-best in the 1500 (4:08.03) at the Maryland Terrapin Invite.

2005-06 Indoor: Competed in the one-mile run at three meets during the season… Ran his season-best time of 4:26.42 in the mile at the Rider/Lafayette Invite… Highest finish of the season came at the Bucknell Bison Open, where he finished ninth in the mile.

2005 Cross Country: Competed in three of the Retrievers’ eight meets during the season… Best finish came at the Maryland State College Championships, where he placed 16th on the 8K course in a time of 28:49.00… Was the second Retriever to cross the line at the same meet… Started the season off with a 27th-place finish at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals, finishing the 5K course in 16:42.34… Also competed at the Navy Invitational where he ran his season-best time of 28:17.95 in the 8K.

Background:  Lettered at Patuxent High School in Lusby, Md., earning a letter in indoor and outdoor track and field all four years … Part of the 4 x 800-meter Panther relay team that set a new Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) record in 2004… Same relay also placed second at the 2004 Maryland state meet… Named First-Team All-SMAC in the 4 x 800m relay, 1600-meter run, 800, and 3200 in 2005… Also lettered in soccer for three years and was named First-Team All-SMAC… An honor roll student who received the Minds in Motion Award for four years, carrying a 3.25 GPA or higher while in season… Also earned the Student-Athlete of the Year award in 2005.

Personal:  One of four children to John and Kandace Okoniewski… Has two brothers, John (23) and Joseph (18) and a sister, Anna (16)… Father, John, played basketball at the University of Delaware and brother, Joseph currently plays soccer at Shepherd College… Born on February 13, 1987.
