 2009 Outdoor: Finished 11th overall at the America East Championships in the 200m dash with a time of 21.95… Tied his season-best time in the 200 at the Bucknell Team Challenge… Member of the 4x100 relay team that set the America East Championship record and earned gold with a time of 41.17… The 4x100 relay placed fourth at the IC4A Championships with a time of 40.98 and placed 12th at the NCAA East Regionals with a season-best time of 40.92… Also a member of the 4x200 relay which earned bronze at the IC4As with a time of 1:25.06.
 
2008-09 Indoor: Finished seventh at the America East Championships in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13… Placed 15th at the IC4A Championships in the 200 with a season-best time of 22.02… Named Most Improved Athlete at UMBC’s varsity awards banquet in May.

2008 Outdoor: Placed 19th in the 400-meter dash at the America East Championships… Was part of the fifth-place 4 x 400m relay team at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational… Was part of the seventh-place 4 x 400m team at the Colonial Relays.

 

2007-08 Indoor: Finished 12th in the 400-meter dash and was part of the fourth-place 4 x 400m relay team at the America East Championships… Placed 20th in the 400-meter dash at the Terrapin Invitational… Finished 11th in the 400-meter dash and was part of the fifth-place 4 x 400m relay team at the Bison Opener.

 

2007 Outdoor:  Finished seventh in the 200-meter dash and 12th in the 400 at the America East Championships with season-best times of 22.47 and 50.62, respectively… Was also a part of the third-place 4 x 400m relay at the conference meet.

2006-07 Indoor: Was part of the 4 x 200-meter relay at the Bucknell Gulden Relays which set a new UMBC record (1:30.51)… Finished sixth in the prelims in the 200-meter dash and 12th in the 400 at the America East Championships and was also part of the fourth-place 4 x 400m relay… Ran season-best times of 22.24 in the 200 at the Lafayette/Rider Invite and 50.09 in the 400 at the conference championship meet.

Background: A letterwinner at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md…. Named the Raider MVP in the winter of 2005 and Senior Leader in the spring of 2006… Also named to The Gazette Second-Team All-County for winter 2005 and 2006 and spring 2006… Part of the Raider team that won the 2005 outdoor championship and 2006 indoor championship… Also lettered in football for the Raiders… An honor roll student.

 

Personal: One of five children to William and Michelle Powell… Has two brothers, Derrick and Billy, and two sisters, Donna and Nicole… Majoring in new media and communications… Born July 29, 1988.
