Albino, Mezebish, and Omar Improve School Records at ECAC/IC4A Championships
BOSTON – UMBC seniors Jake Albino (Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and Cody Mezebish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll), as well as sophomore Hassan Omar (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson), each bettered school record times as the UMBC track and field team opened competition at the 2014 ECAC/IC4A Championships, Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Select UMBC Track and Field Athletes Travel to Boston for ECAC and IC4A Championships
BALTIMORE – Before wrapping up the indoor season next week with senior Andrew Smith traveling to the NCAA Championships, the UMBC track and field team sends select athletes to Boston this weekend for the 2014 ECAC and IC4A Championships. The three-day meet will from run March 7-9 at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.

Smith Qualifies for NCAA Championships; Both UMBC Track and Field Squads Climb in Latest USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Rankings
NEW ORLEANS – UMBC senior Andrew Smith will be the sixth Retriever track and field athlete to compete at the NCAA Championships when he heads to New Mexico for the national indoor meet on March 14-15, the intercollegiate governing body announced on Tuesday night. Smith will compete in the 800m at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

LANDOVER, Md. – UMBC junior Alisha Beeman (Bridgeport, Conn./Bunnell/Hartford) cleared a new personal-best of 1.71m (5’0.75”) in the high jump to break the UMBC school record as the UMBC track and field team competed at the Terrapin Invitational at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex.

Track and Field Set to Stay In-State for Navy Invitational and Terrapin Invitational on Saturday
BALTIMORE – Following two meets in Pennsylvania to start the season, the UMBC track and field teams will stay in Maryland this weekend, but split up, with athletes competing at the Navy Invitational and the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday. The Navy meet will take place at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis while the Terrapin meet will be held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md., adjacent to FedEx Field.

Track and Field Alum Borel Named Trinidad and Tobago Female Athlete of the Year; Long Listed Among Top-Ten in 200m Dash by IAAF
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago – Former UMBC track and field athlete and NCAA champion Cleopatra Borel was named the National Association of Athletics Administrations (NAAA) of Trinidad and Tobago Female Athlete of the Year, Sunday evening at the organization’s annual awards ceremony. In addition, Borel earned the “Women Open Field” award.
