2011 Outdoor: Won a bronze medal, 15.38m, in the shot put at the America East Championships… Also won a bronze medal in the discus throw, 48.54m, at the America East Championships… Returns as the Retrievers top performer in the discus throw, hammer throw, and shot put.

20010-11 Indoor: Earned fourth in the shot put at the America East Championships with a throw of 14.59m... Recorded a personal best distance, 15.43m, in the weight throw at the Bison Opener... Finished third overall, 15.39m, in the shot put (45'0") at the Maryland Invitational.

2009-10 Indoor: Set the UMBC record in the shot put with a heave of 15.43m at the Rider/Lafayette Winter Games… Finished sixth in the shot put at the America East Championships with a throw of 14.93m, while placing eighth in the weight throw with a career-best distance of 15.00m.

 

2009 Outdoor: Finished seventh in the shot put at the America East Championships with a throw of 14.73m… Threw a season-best mark in the discus of 44.45m at the Virginia Invitational… Had a season-best toss of 31.95m in the hammer throw at the Bucknell Team Challenge. 
 
2008-09 Indoor: Placed seventh at the America East Championships in the shot put with a season-best toss of 14.15m… Placed 15th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 12.83m at the conference meet… Season’s best weight throw came at the Maryland Invitational with a mark of 13.50m.
 
Background: Named Washington Post Athlete of the Year as a senior…Was named to the P.G. Gazette First Team in 2007 and 2008… Also played football for the Stags... Lists playing on ESPN as  his most memorable moment.
 
Personal: Son of Lester and Yvonne Brooks… Chose UMBC over Maryland, Norfolk State and Robert Morris… Father played football at Morgan State… An information systems major… Also plays guitar.
