Justin Carter Named America East Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC freshman Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md./National Connections Academy) was named America East Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches ending March 3, 2013.
Carter was a perfect 2-0 in his singles matches versus opponents from Penn and St. Joseph’s last week. Against Penn, the freshman was the lone Retriever to net a win, prevailing in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) at the No. 1 singles position. Carter also won his No. 1 singles match versus St. Joseph’s in three sets (6-1, 2-6, 6-4).
The newcomer’s efforts helped UMBC earn a split on the weekend. The team’s record stands at 3-5 on the spring campaign.
