—The UMBC men’s tennis team finished the 2010 season ranked No. 6 in the Atlantic region. The Retrievers completed their second season under head coach Rob Hubbard with a 17-6 record and lost a hard-fought decision to Binghamton in the America East Conference title match.

Virginia was the top-ranked squad in the region, followed by Virginia Tech, Penn State, VCU, William & Mary and UMBC. Radford, Maryland, Old Dominion and Liberty rounded out the top ten.

"What a great way to top off a very successful season!” Hubbard said.  “I am very proud of the men as they worked exceptionally hard and deserved this strong jump up into the rankings.  Hopefully, next season we can build off of it even more."

Moreover, Retriever freshman Adam Duprat (Bobigny, France) was ranked 17th in the region in singles. Duprat earned America East Second-Team All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles in his initial campaign. He was brilliant in singles competition, winning 18 of 20 matches.

"For Adam to break into the regional singles ranking as a freshman is a great tribute to his work ethic,” Hubbard said. “When all is said and done, I believe Adam will have a highly successful career here at UMBC."
