Joe Adewumi Named America East Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Cambridge, Mass.—UMBC sophomore Joe Adewumi (Phoenix, Ariz./North Canyon) was named America East Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Adewumi is the third Retriever to win the honor this spring. Senior Fredi Voorman (Talinn, Estonia) and junior Mwali Phiri (Yonkers, N.Y.) were previously honored by the league.

He was 3-0 (2-0 singles, 1-0 doubles) during  the Texas swing with victories over both Prairie View A&M and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The sophomore did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles vs. Prairie View. He is currently a team leading 13-2 in singles and 2-1 in doubles play for the season.

UMBC (12-3) returns to action on Sunday when they host George Mason.
