Men's Tennis Sweeps St. Francis (N.Y.)
1/30/2010
The UMBC men’s tennis team won its third straight match and improved to 4-1 on the season with a 7-0 victory over visiting St. Francis (N.Y.) at Twin Lakes Racquet Club in suburban Baltimore.
The Retrievers took the doubles point, edging the Terriers in all three matches. Then, UMBC cruised in singles play, sweeping all six matches in straight sets and losing only nine games to St. Francis.
“It was a solid performance from the men's team with all 9 players on the roster contributing to the victory," head coach Rob Hubbard said. "We were a bit sluggish starting off in the doubles but finished strong and followed it up with well focused singles play."
