Notes: The Retrievers captured five of the six singles matches vs. Morgan State in straight sets as the Retrievers defeated the Bears, 6-1 on Friday, April 1. Freshmen Irfan Shamasdin, a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Joaquin Turley, and Leif Hollowell, a 6-0, 7-5 victor over Michael Harper have moved up to the #2 and #4 singles slots respectively.

 

Shamasdin and freshman David Jackson are now forming UMBC’s #1 doubles team and they posted an 8-6 win over Morgan’s Michael Harper and Andre Prince. The freshmen duo is 3-1 at the #1 slot to date. Shamasdin leads the Retrievers with 11 victories this spring, followed by Jackson with 9 and freshman Fernando Ferriera with 8.
