Cambridge, Mass. – UMBC sophomore Eliott Loubatie (Paris, France/Notre Dame De Boulogne) has been named America East Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on March 4.
Loubatie earned the clinching point in singles for three consecutive matches as UMBC (6-3) is in the midst of a four-match winning streak. He improved to 5-3 in singles on the campaign with a pair of victories this week.
On February 28, Loubatie and partner Kamal Patel (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) blanked a Bucknell duo, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles as UMBC earned the doubles point. In singles competition, he defeated Octavio Canibe 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 position to wrap up the decision for the Retrievers, who prevailed, 5-2.
Loubatie also clinched the 4-0 match triumph for the Retrievers versus Howard on March 2 with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory over Laguna Foster at the No. 4 position.
UMBC puts its winning streak on the line when they host George Mason on March 7. That match has been moved indoors to 40 West Racquet Club.
