Cambridge, Mass.- For the second consecutive week, UMBC freshman Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md./National Connections Academy) has been named America East Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Carter ran his singles winning streak to four in a row with two victories this weekend over Navy and Delaware. Both of the victories came in straight sets from the No. 1 position. Though Carter dropped his only doubles match of the weekend, his play helped the Retrievers earn a pair of wins to bump their record to 5-5 this season.
The freshman has won six of his last seven singles matches, all from the No. 1 position.
All three weekly award winners in 2013 have been Retrievers. Senior Gaulthier Berret won the first weekly honor, followed by back-to-back accolades for Carter.
UMBC is off until March 21, when they compete at the College of Charleston.
