2011: Earned his second consecutive America East All-Academic team honor and became UMBC’s first male repeat honoree in the sport since America East instituted All-Academic teams in 2005-06… Named a 2011 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education… Earned America East Second Team honors at the No. 3 singles position… Won 20 matches for his third consecutive year, going 12-7 in singles action and 8-10 in doubles’ play in the spring of 2011... Named America East Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 6, 2011... Began the 2010-2011 season ranked No. 125 nationally as noted by the Intercollegiate Ten­nis Association (ITA) … Undefeated at both the SJU Men’s Fall Invitational as well as the Navy Gold Invite ... Named to Winter-Spring Honor Roll for the third consecutive year.  

  

2010: Named America East First Team All-Conference at No. 3 doubles… Posted a record of 17-6, including a nine-match winning streak in the spring… Was 5-1 in doubles competition for the year… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

 

2009: Recorded a mark 13-16 overall in singles competition at the nos. 4 and no. 5 positions… Also posted a record of 8-8 in doubles… In his initial campaign, recorded a mark of 21-24 overall.... Named to Winter-Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.

 

Background: Majoring in biochemistry/molecular biology... One of the top players in the southwest region and was ranked No. 1 in the state ofArizona during the 2007-08 year… Finished in the top three in the state (5A) championships in three of the last four years and took the state title in 2006… Named the 2006-07 5A-II northwest region Player of the Year and the 2008 Male Athlete of the Year for North Canyon High School… The younger brother of former UMBC standout tennis student-athlete Joy Adewumi... The lone player to defeat future Oregon Duck Geoff Embry in that season at the 2006 Kiwanis Invitational finals… Led the Rattlers to a second-place finish at the state tournament in both 2006 and 2007… Also lettered in track and field, placing second in the 5A-I central Phoenix region in the long jump… Possesses a distinguished resumé, including citations as the president of the National Honor Society chapter, a finalist for the 2006 Phoenix Outstanding Young Man of the Year, and the 2008 Outstanding Student (and Athlete) of the Year at North Canyon… Sister Joy earned four letters at UMBC from 2006-09...
