Five Named CollegeSwimming.com's Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention

SOMERS, Wis.—Seniors Jennifer Esposito (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst/C.W. Post), Sam Maccherola (Woolford, Md./South Carroll/Tennessee) and Matt Mattingly (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), junior Brad Reitz (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and sophomore Abbey McKenney (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) have been named Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention honorees by CollegeSwimming.com, as announced by the website Tuesday.

 

At the 2010 America East Championships, Mattingly finished first in the 100 breast in a time of 55.21, a new UMBC school record. He also placed first in the 200 IM in a time of 1:48.69 at the same meet. Reitz earned gold in the 200 fly in 1:47.81 at the conference meet.

 

McKenney broke the school record and earned gold in the women's 100 free in a time of 50.17 at the conference meet. Maccherola earned gold in the 200 free in a time of 1:48.63 at the same meet. Esposito placed second in the 200 fly at the conference meet in 2:00.39.

 

Swimmers earned the honor by achieving NCAA “B” time standards during the course of the 2009-10 season.
