UMBC Swimming and Diving Hosts Navy Saturday

10/23/2009

BALTIMORE—The UMBC men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams host their first meet of the 2009-10 season Saturday when Navy travels to Baltimore. The men’s meet starts at noon, while the women’s action begins at 2 p.m.

Both Navy teams come in with a record of 3-0, while both Retrievers teams are 1-0 after defeating Rider last Saturday. Last year in this series, Navy swept both meets, winning the men’s meet, 169-126, before the women won 136-105.

Senior Matt Mattingly (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) won the 100-meter breast, while sophomore Nour Saad (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) won 200-meter back. Senior Lindsay Sherman (Bethany, Conn./Amity) was the only individual winner in last year’s women’s meet, taking the 200-meter fly.
