2008-09: Finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke, sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100 free at the America East Championships… Part of the 200  and 400 free relay teams that claimed silver at the conference meet… Earned silver in the 100 free and bronze in the 50 free and placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Patriot Invitational… Swam season-best times in the 50 free (20.91) and 100 free (45.48) at the America East Championships.

 

Background: Earned All-America first-team status in the 100 free and All-American second team in the 50 free in 2008… Was New Jersey state champion in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free relay in 2008… In 2007, earned All-Conference first team in the 100 free… Garnered All-Conference second team for the 50 free in 2006… Helped Cherry Hill West win the state title in 2007, while finishing second in 2006 and 2008.

 

Personal: Son of Julie and David Mattingly… Has two brothers, Matt (21) and Bryan (13)… Matt is a senior swimmer for UMBC… Majoring in economics and hopes to one day own and cook in a restaurant.
