2007-08: Claimed silver in the 200-yard butterfly, and finished fifth in the 100 fly and 8th in the 200 freestyle at the America East Championships… Also finished seventh in the 200 free, eighth in the 200 fly, ninth in the 100 fly, and 15th in the 500 free at the Patriot Invitational while also taking part in the winning 800 free relay… Highest dual meet finishes of the year came against Marist, Towson, and Bucknell where he finished second in the 200 fly… 200 fly time of 1:52.96 ranks seventh on the all-time top 10 list… Swam career-best times of 51.41 and 1:52.96 in the 100 and 200 flies at the America East Championships and 1:43.75 in the 200 free at the Patriot Invite… Named to the America East All-Academic Team.

 

2006-07: Finished sixth in the 200 butterfly, 15th in the 200 freestyle, 19th in the 500 free, and 20th in the 100 fly and was also part of the third place 800 free relay at the Patriot Invite… Highest finish of the year came against Marist where he finished third in the 200 free… Swam career bests in the 200 free (1:44.95) and 200 fly (1:54.69) at the America East Championships and in the 500 free (4:46.12) at the Patriot Invite… 200 fly time was the fourth-fastest on the team for the season… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

2005-06: Placed sixth in the 100-free and swam on the fourth-place 400-free relay against Rider in the first meet of his collegiate career… Finished second in the 50-free and 200-fly against Towson… Contributed in numerous sprint freestyle and butterfly events, as well as relays, throughout the season… Selected to the America East Honor Roll… Swam season bests in the 50-free (22.31) and 100-free (48.89) at the George Mason Invitational.

 

Background: Was a Frederick County All-County First Team selection in 2004 and 2005… Helped his high school team to a 12th-place finish at Metros, the highest finish ever for a Frederick County school… Was a member of the National Honor Society and mock trial at Gov. Thomas Johnson.

 

Personal: Son of Martin and Rebecca Sterba… Has an older sister, Meghan, and an older brother, Greg… Born Nov. 12, 1987… Majoring in computer science and hopes to become a computer programmer.
