2006-07: Took bronze in the 1650 freestyle and finished seventh in the 500 free and eighth in the 400 individual medley at the America East Championships… Also finished eighth in the 1650 free, 18th in the 500 free, and 21st in the 400 IM at the Patriot Invite… Highest individual finish came against Towson where he finished second in the 1000 free… Posted UMBC’s third-fastest 1650 free and fourth-fastest 1000 free times of the season… Also swam career bests in the 500 free (4:39.98) and 1650 free (16:05.26)… 1650 free time ranks eighth on the all-time top ten list… Named to the America East Winter All-Academic Team.

 

2005-06: Placed fifth in the mile, sixth in the 400-IM and seventh in the 500-free at the America East Championships… Took 25th in the 200-fly and 400-IM and 27th in the 500-free at ECAC’s… Won the 500-free against Howard… Placed third in the 500-free against Towson and in the 1,000-free against Towson and New Hampshire… Swam UMBC’s third-fastest times of the season in the mile and the 400-IM… Selected to the America East Honor Roll… Swam season bests in the 500-free (4:44.74) and 400-IM (4:12.45) and in the 1,000-free in his split from the mile (9:54.31) at AEC’s and in the 200-fly (2:00.13) at ECAC’s.

 

2004-05: Finished third in the 500-free and fourth in the 1,000-free against William and Mary in his first collegiate meet… Also placed third in the 1,000-free against Johns Hopkins… Came in 19th in the 1,650-free and 40th in the 500-free at ECAC’s.

 

Background: Earned team MVP honors and was team captain as a junior and senior… Also captained his club team, the Shawmut Aquatic Club his last two years of high school…chosen as a Metrowest Daily News All-Star in 11th and 12th grade… Selected as a Bay State conference All-Star all four years of high school… Finished third in the 200-free and fourth in the 500-free at the Massachusetts state meet in 2004… Also placed fourth in the 1,650-free at the New England Open in 2004… Helped lead his high school team to a conference championship and a fourth-place finish at the state meet in 2003-04… His club team finished third in New England that same year… Was an active member of the Key Club and SGA in high school.

 

Personal: Son of Norman and Gale Sementelli… Has a younger sister, Gina… Born Oct. 27, 1985… A psychology and economics major who hopes to become a swim coach.
