Swimming and Diving Earns Three Weekly #AESD Awards

BOSTON, Mass. - Three UMBC swimming and diving student-athletes have received America East Performer of the Week awards, following the team's split with William and Mary on Saturday.

 

Hania Moro (New Cairo, Egypt) was named Female Swimmer of the Week after she took first place in all three events she swam in. The senior touched in first in the 200 free (1:51.45), 500 free (5:00.15), and 1000 free (10:14.87). This is Moro's second Female Swimmer of the Week award of the season.

 

Devin Gromen (Crofton, Md./Arundel) was named Female Diver of the Week after earning a first-place finish in the 1 meter dive with a score of 237.60. She also finished second in the 3 meter dive with a score of 222.98.

 

Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) earned Male Diver of the Week for the second time this season after earning first place in the 1 meter dive with a score of 278.55, while also placing first in the 3 meter dive with a score of 327.52.

 

The Retrievers will return to the pool on Thursday, Oct. 25 as they host Towson in a 4 p.m. meet.
