2011-12: Won the silver medal in the 200-yd. backstroke in a season-best time of 1:47.59 at the America East Championships... Also placed fourth in the 100 back (50.39) and tenth in the 200 IM at the conference meet... Won the 200 back and took home a silver in the 100 back at the Patriot Invitational... Won seven individual events, including the 200 back at Maryland, during the dual meet season, the third-highest total on the team... Swept the backstroke events twice during the Retrievers' dual-meet schedule.

  

2010-11: Won gold in the 200-yard backstroke at the America East Championships... Claimed bronze in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke and as a part of the 400-yard medley relay team at the conference meet... Won the 200 back and placed third in four other events at the Patriot Invitational... Named to the America East All-Conference Team... Named the America East Most Outstanding Rookie at the conference meet... Named America East Male Swimmer of the Week for the week of Oct. 26 for winning the 100 and 200 back against Navy... Named to the America East Honor Roll.

 

Background: A five-time national champion in the backstroke in Estonia… Claimed silver in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2007 Junior Nordic Swimming Championships and finished fifth in the 100 back and sixth in the 50 back… Represented Estonia in the 2010 European Championships.

 

Personal: Son of Heigo and Anne Rohtla… Has two younger siblings, Hanna and Markus Hugo… Majoring in biochemistry… Born June 24, 1990.
