FORMER NETMINDER BRIAN ROWLAND SIGNS WITH A-LEAGUE'S TORONTO LYNX
6/20/2003
The A-League’s Toronto Lynx signed goalkeeper Brian Rowland this week as a backup to starter Theo Zagar. Regular backup, James Kryger, is out of action for 6 weeks with a broken hand that occurred in a collision with a Rochester player during last Wednesday's Can-Am Cup match. Rowland, a native of Toronto, last played for the Chesapeake Dragons of the USL's Premier Development League and had a standout collegiate career with University of Maryland Baltimore County (NCAA Division 1). At UMBC, Rowland set single season (11) and career (25) school records for shutouts and earned First Team Northeast All Conference and honourable mention All-American honours in 2002. The Lynx will look to Rowland to help maintain their stellar defensive record this season that has seen them concede only 13 goals in 11 games this season.
