Liam Paddock Named to Capital One Academic All-District 2 First Team

UMBC men’s soccer standout Liam Paddock (Worcestershire, England/Chase Technology Academy) added another honor to his growing resumé, as the senior defender was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 First Team. Paddock and the 10 other student-athletes will represent District 2 on the national Academic All-America® ballot. Just yesterday, Paddock was tabbed Defender of the Year in a vote conducted by the America East Conference league coaches. For the second consecutive year, he was selected to the league’s First Team and to its All-Academic squad. Last month, the four-year starter at fullback for the Retrievers was honored as the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year and he was America East’s Scholar-Athlete in the sport of men’s soccer in 2011. From his defensive position, he has scored a career-best three goals this season.
