Men's Soccer Welcomes Bucknell to Retriever Soccer Park on Tuesday; Game Televised Live by Live Well Network
Milo Kapor leads America East with four assists through nine games.
The UMBC men’s soccer team welcomes Bucknell to Retriever Soccer Park for a non-conference match-up on Tuesday evening, Oct. 4. The two teams met for the first time last season, with UMBC escaping with a 2-1 victory. The contest will be televised live by WMAR-TV's Live Well Network.
AS OF LATE: UMBC opened America East Conference play on Saturday and rallied for a 2-1 win over visiting Albany. Sophomore Pete Caringi III and senior Andrew Bulls scored in a six-minute span deep into the second half to rally the home team. After posting victories in three consecutive road games, Bucknell (5-5-0) has dropped its opening two home Patriot League games to Lehigh (1-0) and American (2-1).

A GLANCE AT THE BISON: Bucknell has been the “road warriors” in 2011, winning three of four road games, while dropping two of five at Holmes Stadium. After posting victories in three consecutive road games, Bucknell has dropped its opening two home Patriot League games to Lehigh (1-0) and American (2-1). Sophomore Mayowa Alli has a team-high six goals on the season. He scored two goals eachin victories over La Salle and Monmouth. Alli also has three game-winning goals in 2011 and has been credited with the Bison’s last three goals scored in a four-day period.
Seven of Bucknell’s last eight games have been decided by a single goal. The Bison have outshot their opponents, 155-106 on the season.
INSIDE THE SERIES: UMBC won the first-ever meeting between the two schools, 2-1, in Lewisburg, Pa. last season. Chris Williams and then-freshman Pete Caringi III, both Calvert Hall products, scored the Retriever goals in the 23rd and 55th minutes respectively. Bucknell’s Tommy McCabe scored on a penalty kick in the 84th minute, but UMBC hung on for the victory.
Both teams have played La Salle this season. Bucknell defeated the Explorers, 2-1, at home, while UMBC just dropped a 2-1 road decision.
