UMBC Men’s Soccer NCAA Victory over Princeton Nominated for America East Moment of the Year

    CAMBRIDGE—The UMBC men’s soccer team’s NCAA Tournament victory over Princeton is one of 14 nominees for the 2010-11 America East Moment of the Year. Fans can vote for the Retrievers’ thrilling upset now through July 31 on the America East Facebook page.

     

    In order to cast your vote, visit facebook.com/americaeast and “like” the video. To vote, you must already be a fan of the America East page; if you are not, follow the link and click “like” at the top of the page.

     

    The video with the most number of “likes” will become the 2010-11 America East Moment of the Year and will be announced on AmericaEast.com on Aug. 1.

     

    The Retrievers captured their first-ever America East title by virtue of penalty kicks after playing New Hampshire to a 0-0 tie at UMBC Soccer Stadium. Then, behind goals from All-Americans Levi Houapeu and Andrew Bulls, UMBC went on to upset 10th-ranked Princeton, 2-1, in its NCAA Tournament first-round game and advanced to the second round for the first time in school history.
