Anthony Adams

TALAHASSEE, Fla.—UMBC men’s soccer assistant coach Anthony Adams was named one of the top 20 assistant coaches in the nation by College Soccer News last week.

Adams, who is in his 14th season at UMBC, helped guide the Retrievers to their first-ever America East championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament this fall. UMBC, which posted a 12-4-4 overall record and went unbeaten in its final eight contests, defeated 10th-ranked Princeton in the first round, then played William & Mary to a scoreless draw before falling in penalty kicks.

This marks the fifth time Adams has been named to College Soccer News’ list. In 2003, he was one of 27 college coaches in the nation to be honored as an Assistant Coach of the Year by AFLAC, and he was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the NSCAA in 2005.

Adams earned four letters for UMBC from 1992-95 and was a starter in the backfield in his final three seasons.
