UMBC Men's Soccer Signs Seven For 2009-10 Academic Year

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC head men’s soccer coach Pete Caringi is pleased to announce that seven prospective student-athletes have signed national letters of intent for the 2009-10 academic year.
Joe Green –
Caringi’s Quick Take: “Joe is intelligent, strong and fearless.”
Milovan Kapor – Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada – 6’1 – Midfielder/Forward – Emily Carr Secondary – member of Ontario Cup Champion Vaughn Azzurri – 2006 ECSS Junior Athlete of the Year.

Matthew Knight –
Caringi’s Quick Take: “Matt is a determined, hard-working player who possesses speed and quickness.”
Mark Lubetkin – Livingston, New Jersey – 6’1 –Midfield – Livingston HS – member of Region 1 Premier League Champions PDA Cryuff – First-Team All-Essex County – Second -Team All-State – A four-year starter for Livingston, having played forward and center midfield his first three seasons before moving to sweeper last fall year to strengthen a young defense. He scored five goals and added four assists by moving back to an offensive position at times.

Liam Paddock –
Caringi’s Quick Take: “Liam is strong, quick, and a great communicator.”
Phillip Saunders – Perry Hall, Maryland – 6’2 - Goal Keeper – Perry Hall HS – member of Baltimore Bays Academy – All-State, Second Team All-Metro as a defender.
Caringi’s Quick Take: “Phil is a tremendous athlete.”
David Vaeth – Dundalk, Maryland – 6’1” - Midfield – Patapsco HS – member of Baltimore Bays Academy – First Team All-State – First Team All-Metro-- led Patapsco to a 9-4-2 record with 16 goals and 12 assists in 2008-- finished his four-year varsity career with 42 goals and 30 assists.
Caringi’s Quick Take: “David is physical and dominant in the air.”
"I am extremely excited about our recruiting class,” Caringi said. “I feel that we have brought in players that will make an immediate impact on the program. Our goal was to bring in student- athletes that have been successful both on the field and in the classroom and we have achieved that goal. All of our recruits come from top notch clubs with successful programs."
