Andrew Bulls Wins Fourth America East Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week Honor

10/20/2008

UMBC freshman forward Andrew Bulls (Millersville, Md./McDonogh) has been named America East Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie-of-the-Week for games ending Oct. 19, 2008. It is Bulls’ fourth honor of the year, the most for a conference first-year player since Boston University’s Roland Erlichman collected four in 2004.

Bulls scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season and gave his team a one-goal lead in a pair of heart-wrenching setbacks this week. His header in the 66th minute gave UMBC a 1-0 lead vs. 2007 national semifinalist Virginia Tech on Oct. 14 in an eventual 2-1 overtime loss to the Hokies. He recorded his seventh goal of the season to give UMBC a 3-2 lead late in the first half at Albany. The Retrievers eventually dropped the contest, 5-4.

The first-year player leads the Retrievers in goals (seven) and points (16).
