--The Drexel Dragons scored twice in the final 18 minutes of play and held off the UMBC men's soccer team, 2-1, in the Drexel Invitational.  UMBC (1-3-1) is now winless in four straight games, while Drexel improves to 3-1.

The game was scoreless in the first half, but Drexel's Kwesi Klass received a pair of yellow cards in the early stages of the second half and the hosts played a man down for the final 28 minutes of play. UMBC took advantage as sophomore midfielder Kevin Gnatiko weaved his way through the Dragons defeat and beat netminder Cory Robertson in the 65th minute.

Robertson actually initiated the game-tying play for Drexel as he took a free kick from near the midfield stripe. UMBC keeper Steve King failed to handle the ball, and as it rebounded off King’s hands, Mike Crosse leapt and kicked the ball behind King and into the net to square the match at 1-1 in the 72^nd minute.

Still shorthanded, Drexel got the game-winner off another free kick, with this one occurring just outside the box. Anthony Bafile knocked in a loose ball  and deposited the ball for the go-ahead tally in the 83^rd minute.

UMBC threatened in the final moments, but could not get the game-tying goal and fell to 0-4 vs. Drexel.  Shots (8-8), saves (three each by King and Robertson) and corners (three each) were even for the game.

The Retrievers face La Salle, a 2-1 loser to Howard, in a noon contest on Sunday.
