Walk-on to the program that gave UMBC quality minutes in 2002...a tenacious player with good speed...earned “Award for Academic Excellence” this past spring with cumulative GPA of over 3.50.
2002-Earned first collegiate start in game #2 vs. Gardner-Webb and started 11 contests in 2002...missed several games due to ankle injury...scored key insurance goals in home NEC wins over Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA).
2001- Appeared in four contests off the bench in his initial season...played with a great deal of energy during his brief stints in game action.
BACKGROUND: Earned a spot on the team with good workouts during the spring fo 2001...a Baltimore Sun All Metro selection as a senior at Oakland Mills...also was named to All Howard County squad in both junior and senior seasons...earned two state titles with the Scorpions...two older sisters, Johanna , 25, (American/UMBC) and Beth, 23, (Drexel) swam on the intercollegiate level...is applying for graduate school programs for a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences...son of Diane and Art Blakely...born December 31, 1981.
