Accolades: Named to the America East Conference All-Rookie Team in 2009… Earned place on America East Fall 2011 Academic Honor Roll.

2011: Did not compete in any fall contests and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

2010: Started the first seven games of the campaign and posted a 3-3-0 record… Got the win with a perfect 45 minutes in the opener vs. VMI on Sept 2 and recorded a shutout two days later in a 2-0 victory over Wofford… Lost three of his next four decisions, posting a victory in a 2-1 overtime win vs. La Salle on Sept. 15… Made a career-high seven saves in his final action of the season, a 2-1 loss at FDU on Sept. 26.

2009: The freshman goalkeeper got the starting nod in the season opener and started all 20 games on the campaign… Posted his first career shutout (of six on the season) in game No. 3 vs. St. Joseph’s on Sept. 6… Recorded four consecutive shutouts in wins over Towson, Drexel, Loyola (Md.) and La Salle… Named America East Conference Rookie of the Week for games played Sept. 14-20 and Sept. 21-27… Was especially brilliant in the 1-0 wins over Towson and Loyola, with dazzling saves down the stretch of each contest… Posted a season-high six saves vs. the Greyhounds, which he later tied with six stops at Hartford on Oct. 28… His lone shutout in America East competition occurred vs. Stony Brook on Oct. 7.  

Background: Majoring in Health Administration and Policy... A Baltimore Sun Second-Team All-Metro selection as a fullback for Perry Hall… Also earned All-Division, All-County and Second-Team All-State honors… Competed for the Baltimore Bays U-19's in the summer of 2011… Started and played every game and helped win the state, regional and national championship…  Captured  the Golden Gloves award at the end of the national competition…  Part of a powerful Gators’ squad which reached the state championship in both 2007 and 2008… Netted the first penalty kick in the state semifinals as Perry Hall defeated Magruder, 3-1, to move to the state finals vs. Bowie… Also lettered in baseball… Father, Ian, played professional soccer… Enjoys mahi mahi and the music of Jack Johnson… Son of Ginger and the late Ian Saunders… Phillip Andrew Saunders was born on Sept. 28, 1991.
