Accolades: Earned UMBC’s Ed Veit Award in '07, as the team’s most outstanding freshman… Also named to the 2007 America East All-Rookie team. 2008: Started all 17 games and has been a starter in all 37 games UMBC has played in the past two seasons… Played all 1,610 minutes during the campaign, the lone field player to earn that distinction… Named to the All-Tournament team in the adidas Kick-Off Classic… For the second consecutive year, he posted a game-winning goal against America East competition… Headed in John Paul Waraksa’s re-direct in the 57th minute for the game’s lone score in the 1-0 win over 2007: Was one of three Retrievers to start in all 20 games last season...Inserted into the starting lineup in a demanding central defensive position... Credited with the game-winning goal in the 2-0 decision over Albany... Skimmed a header off a corner inside the far left pos in the 32nd minute....Named America East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 22.
BACKGROUND: A central defender with excellent size who competed for a top prep program at Calvert Hall and a top club program with the Baltimore Bays… Lists his best game as the Cardinals’ 2006 5-0 win over Loyola… Also earned two letters in lacrosse… Considered Rider and Mount St. Mary’s, but selected UMBC because “it is close to home, the size is good and it is a place with a good program and academics”… Competed on the Bays’ team which won the state cup in 2001… Enjoys the music of Dave Matthews… Has a younger brother, Matthew, who is 17… son of Donna and Bill Williams… born July 28, 1989.
