2007: Received substantial playing time, appearing in 19 of 20 games and starting seven... Utilized to play a defensive role and win balls in the midfield, but demonstrated slick passing skills as well... Attempted 11 shots on the season... Converted one of UMBC's five penalty kicks in the America East quarterfinal contest at Hartford, helping the Retrievers advance.  


BACKGROUND:  A two-time first-team All-Delco Pennsylvania honoree playing for Strath Haven High School… A four-year varsity letterwinner, he was the team’s second leading scorer with 13 goals and nine assists in his senior year... A two-year member of 1989 EPYSA ODP team… Played club soccer with the Nether Mustangs FC, highlighted by a run to the USYSA national final in 2003… Chose UMBC over league rivals Vermont and New Hampshire and UNC-Wilmington because he liked the coaches, the reputation of the school, and the proximity to his hometown… Hobbies include music, surfing, and snowboarding… Has a sister, Breana at Mount St. Mary’s University, and a younger brother Connor, who will be a junior at Strath Haven… Son of John and Lisa Waraksa… John Paul Waraksa was born July 7, 1989.
