2007: Energetic striker who provided the Retrievers with a spark throughout his initial campaign... Posted the first primary assist of the season, as he pass across the box was converted by B.J. Quigley to knot the game vs. Air Force at 1-1... Headed home an insurance marker two days later in the 2-0 victory over Temple... Recorded his other goal vs. VCU, also scoring on a header in the 87th minute... Set up Levi Houapeu’s game-winning goal in the 4-0 conference-opening win over Stony Brook.


BACKGROUND: A transfer from Methodist (N.C.) College, who led the Monarchs in scoring in 2006…  Scored seven goals and added two assists and earned USA South Conference all-league honors in ’06… Earned a conference Player of the Week award… Posted a three-goal effort in a 3-2 win over Southwestern University… A member of the 2003 MIAA conference champions at Calvert Hall… Competed in track and field for the Cardinals and was a league finalist in the open 400 meters and the 100 meters… Transferred to UMBC “because of [its] history of excellence in sports and education”… Older brother, Enobong, played football at Gilman… Youunger sister, Ekaette, is a senior at Mercy… Plays the saxophone and lists his favorite movie as “Finding Nemo”… Son of Cassandra and Thomson Umoh… Ime John Umoh was born on Sept. 21, 1988.
