2006: Played every minute of Retriever soccer last season and has now amassed 2,754 consecutive minutes played... stunningly, UMBC did not record a shutout during the entire ‘06 campaign, a first in the school’s NCAA Division-I history... allowed one goal on eight occasions... recorded a career-high nine saves in a 1-1 overtime draw vs. Vermont... tied that mark with nine stops in a 5-2 win in the finale vs. Hartford... his 1.69 goals against averaged was ninth in America East... needs nine saves to move into the school’s all-time top ten.
2005-After playing just three minutes in UMBC’s first seven contests, he earned a start at Hartford and proceeded to pitch shutouts in his first four starts...did not allow a goal in his first 424 minutes of action...made a season-high seven saves in the 1-0 overtime win at Binghamton...put together another scoreless streak of 317 minutes, which including shutouts of Navy, New Hampshire and Maine...earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on Ocotber 3 (shutouts of Howard and Albany) and October 24 (shutouts of UNH and Maine)... finished the campaign with eight shutouts, three shy of a UMBC single season record (11, Brian Rowland, 2002)...led America East in shutouts per game (eight in 13 games) and was fifth in goals against average (0.93).
BACKGROUND: Earned First Team All-City and All-Conference and Second Team All-State honors in his senior campaign for the Friars…his '04 season was highlighted by a 14-save effort in a 1-0 homecoming win over top-ranked McDonogh….in 2003, Archbishop Curley moved up to a #3 national ranking…a member of the National Honor Society and a C. Markland Kelly Award winner…also lettered in football and basketball…helped the Casa Mia Bays capture a pair of national club championships…also considered Coastal Carolina, Lafayette and Loyola, but selected UMBC because "[it] was the best fit for me"…has a sister, Kelli, 21…enjoys the music of Simple Plan and the novel The DaVinci Code…son of Rosemary and Carl King…born Sept. 29, 1987.
