Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer returns to the pitch after a week off against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. The Retrievers are 4-1 on the year after taking down Navy 2-0 last Saturday in Annapolis. Junior Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) both had a goal and an assist in the game to propel the Retrievers.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-The Retrievers enter the weekend at 4-1 after having the week off between matches. Last time out, UMBC defeated Navy 2-0 last Saturday behind strong performances by Marconi and Pulliam. Both had a goal and an assist in the contest, with freshman Quantrell Jones (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) posting a shutout in his first collegiate start.

-Marconi leads the Retriever offense with three goals and three assists for a team high nine points. He has had a hand in six of the nine goals the Retrievers have scored in 2018. Pulliam is the only other Retriever with double digit goals, netting two with one assists for five points. Jackson Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.), James Gielen (Edgewater, Md./DeMatha), and Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) have also scored for UMBC.

-Sophomore Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) has seen the majority of action in net, posting two shutouts in four games played. Jones got his first collegiate start last week, making one save in a shutout victory.

Scouting the Broncos:

-Western Michigan returns to Michigan at 3-4 after beating Cincinnati on Wednesday 3-1. Kosti Moni netted the game's first goal just seven minutes before Ben Thornton added a goal to put the Broncos in front for good.

-Moni leads the team with eight points on a team best four goals. Thornton is just behind with with two goals and four points. In all, five different Broncos have scored on the year.

-In net, Lukas Von Lienen and Elijah Michaels have split time with Von Lienen going 2-1 with 12 saves. Michaels has made three saves in four games, giving up four goals.

All-Time Series:

-This will be just the second all-time meeting between the two schools, with the Broncos winning the only other matchup last fall 2-0 in Baltimore.
