  • Men’s Soccer Battles Howard to 2-2 Draw on Wednesday Night

    UMBC men’s soccer jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but a pair of second half goals by the Bison forced overtime. Neither team could cash in during the extra frames, moving UMBC to 4-2-1 on the year. Howard was playing a man down for the last minute of regulation and overtime after card accumulation.

    UMBC men’s soccer returns to Baltimore after two straight weeks on the road to take on Howard as part of a double-header with the women who take on Mount St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. The Retrievers are coming off a 2-0 defeat to Western Michigan on Saturday in just their second road contest of the year, falling to 4-2 on the year.

    A pair of late goals by the Broncos propelled them past the Retrievers on Saturday afternoon. UMBC was led by sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) who had five of the nine Retriever shots on the day.

    UMBC men’s soccer returns to the pitch after a week off against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. The Retrievers are 4-1 on the year after taking down Navy 2-0 last Saturday in Annapolis. Junior Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) both had a goal and an assist in the game to propel the Retrievers.

    UMBC men’s soccer picked up a convincing 2-0 win against the Midshipmen on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) and junior Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) each scored a goal and added an assist in the victory.

    UMBC men’s soccer fell to Air Force on Sunday night, 2-0. The Retrievers held the Falcons at bay in the first half, but a pair of goals in the second half gave Air Force the win. Freshman Jackson Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) led the way with three shots, as the Retrievers fall to 3-1 on the year.

Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) and James Gielen (Edgewater, Md./DeMatha) each scored in the win.

The Retrievers are coming off a back and forth 3-2 win over Rutgers, where sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) scored his first two goals as a Retriever.

    UMBC men’s soccer picked up a huge 3-2 victory against the Scarlet Knights on Monday night at Retriever Soccer Park. Sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) netted two goals, including the game winner in the 72nd minute. The Retrievers improve to 2-0 on the year, while the Scarlet Knights fall to 0-2.

The team opens the 2018 campaign against Temple on Friday, Aug. 24 with as a group that features a wealth of experience, and a burning hunger to forge ahead to the top of the conference.

    UMBC men’s soccer was picked to finish fifth in the 2018 America East Preseason Poll the conference announced on Tuesday. The poll is voted on by the league coaches, with each coach not being allowed to vote for their own program.
