Burlington, VT.- David Harris (Waimanalo, Hawaii / Reservoir) scored his second goal in as many games, but the visiting UMBC Men's soccer team fell at Vermont Saturday night.
Vermont (9-6, 4-1) got on the board early when Justin Freitas scored a goal just 3:54 in. UMBC (7-4-4, 2-2-1) tied the game when senior midfielder Gregg Hauck (Linthicum, Md/ North County) fed a gorgeous through ball to Harris, who easily finished. Vermont responded just 21 seconds later to retake the lead thanks to Freitas' second goal of the match. The Retrievers kept pushing, but the Catamounts added a third goal in the 30th minute to double the advantage.
Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England / Wood Church) made two saves in the first half, while redshirt freshman Tomas Potts (Ellicott City, Md./ River Hill) stopped the only shot on goal he faced in the second half.
Colin Weyant (Perry Hall, Md. / Perry Hall) had four shots on the day, while teammates Hauck and Harris had three shots each.
Vermont outshot the Retrievers 17-16, with six of the Catamounts shots being on goal while UMBC only had four on goal.
The Retrievers are back on the road for the final time this season, when they travel to Hartford next Saturday at 7 PM.
