Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer plays host to rival #1 Maryland on Tuesday night at Retriever Soccer Park. The Retrievers are in the midst of a four-game home stand, and the second of three games against ranked opponents when the Terrapins head to Baltimore. Most recently, UMBC fell to #12 Western Michigan, 2-0 on Saturday to drop to 5-2-1 on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers (5-2-1):
-The Retrievers come in to the match at 5-2-1, having dropped their first home contest of the year, 2-0 to #12 Western Michigan on Saturday night. It was the first match this season that the Retrievers did not score.
-Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) leads the team with three goals for a team best six points in 2017. Senior Gregg Hauck (Linthicum, Md./North County) has recorded two goals, good for second best. Seven other Retrievers have scored this season, including Colin Weyant (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) who has two assists for four points.
-Freshman goalkeeper Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) has started every game in net for the Retrievers, allowing nine goals for a goals against average of 1.18. He has made 25 stops for a .735 average with three shutouts.
Scouting the Terrapins (6-0-2):
-Maryland enters the match at 6-0-2 after drawing #6 Michigan State 0-0 in East Lansing on Saturday. The Terrapins are ranked number one by Soccer America entering the week, with a 2-0-1 record on the road this year.
-The Terrapins are led by Gordon Wild, who has scored a team best five goals for ten points. Jake Rozhansky, Eryk Williamson, Sebastian Elney and Eric Matzelevich has all scored twice with Rozhansky adding five assists for nine points.
-Dayne St. Clair has seen every minute in net for Maryland, allowing just four goals, making 22 saves (.846 percentage) with all six wins coming as shutouts.
-The Retrievers and Terrapins will be meeting for the 18th time in the all-time series, with Maryland holding a 12-3-2 advantage. However, the Retrievers are 1-0-1 in the last two meetings, including a 1-0 win in 2014 NCAA Tournament in College Park.
-The last time the two sides met in Baltimore was back in 2011, where current assistant coach Pete Caringi III scored a goal in a 4-3 double overtime loss.
