UMBC Looks to Bounce Back, Hosts Northern Illinois on Sunday

Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC is coming off a 3-1 defeat at the hands of UNC Wilmington on Friday night at Retriever Soccer Park. Senior Christian Morales gave the Black and Gold the lead in the second half, but the Seahawks rattled off three straight to earn the victory.

Scouting the Retrievers:

--UMBC is coming off a 3-1 loss to UNCW on Friday night in the opening game of the Westin/Sheraton BWI Classic. Senior Christian Morales (Gaithersburg, Md./Frederick) scored in the 67th minute to give UMBC the lead, but the Seahawks scored three straight to earn the victory.

-Morales scored his goal on his only shot of the evening. Junior Gregg Hauck (Linthicum, Md./North County) put three shots on goal, while freshman Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) had four for the Retrievers. Senior Billy Heavner made one save in between the pipes.

-The Retrievers return a slew of all-conference performers in senior Billy Heavner, junior Gregg Hauck, and sophomores Patrick Jean-Gilles (Woodbridge, Va./South County) and Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir).

Scouting the Huskies:

-Northern Illinois comes to Baltimore after dropping a 2-0 decision to Navy on Friday in Annapolis. The Mids opened the scoring in the 27th minute, tacking on the insurance goal early in the second half to come away with a 2-0 win.

-Max Voss leads the way with two points, as Christian Molina has an assist for one point on the year. Drew Donnally has appeared in every game for the Huskies, giving up seven goals for a goals against average of 2.17. He has made six saves on the year for a save percentage of .462.

All-Time Series:

-UMBC and Northern Illinois will be meeting for the first time on Sunday.

-The Retrievers are a perfect 4-0 against MAC competition, going 2-0 against West Virginia and 1-0 against both Buffalo and Bowling Green.
