Pete Caringi Named Soccer America's Men's College Coach of the Year; Ballo Selected to SA's First Team

WILTON, Conn. – Top national honors for UMBC's men's soccer program continue to pour in. Soccer America has tabbed head men's soccer coach Pete Caringi as the 2014 Men's Coach of the Year and senior defender Oumar Ballo (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) was selected to the publication's Men's College MVP First Team.

The award from the nation's most prestigious publications dedicated to the sport of soccer comes on the eve of Caringi officially receiving his 2014 NSCAA/Field Turf Men's Division I Coach of the Year at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia on Jan. 16.

Ballo, UMBC's first two-time NSCAA All-American, is expected to be selected in the Major League Soccer draft, which also takes place in Philadelphia on Thursday, Jan. 15.
