Men's Soccer Upsets No. 4 Maryland, 1-0, Advances to Third Round of NCAA Tournament
College Park, Md. – UMBC junior midfielder Malcolm Harris (Damascus, Md./McDonogh) scored in the 70th minute and the Retrievers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship with a 1-0 victory over the No. 4 seeded Maryland Terrapins before a spirited crowd of 3,776 at Ludwig Field. It is the first time a UMBC Division I team has advanced this far in a national tournament. UMBC will face No. 13 Louisville, a 2-1 winner over Saint Louis in Kentucky on Sunday, Nov. 30. The game time will be announced early this week.

Heavner, Retrievers Advance, 3-2, in PK's in NCAA First Round Against Wake Forest
UMBC men’s soccer took down ACC foe Wake Forest, 3-2 in penalty kicks on Thursday night in Winston-Salem. The Retrievers and Demon Deacons fought to a scoreless 0-0 draw in regulation, before Michael Scott (Fife, Scotland/Inverkeithing) hit the game winner in the fourth round. UMBC moves to 12-5-4 on the year.

Men's Soccer Wins Third Consecutive America East Title; Retrievers Rally to Edge Hartford, 2-1
BALTIMORE – UMBC red-shirt freshman midfielder Gregg Hauck’s (Linthicum, Md./North County) goals with 14:22 remaining propelled the Retrievers to a 2-1 victory over visiting Hartford in the America East Conference Championship contest. The Retrievers became the second league squad to win three consecutive championships and earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five seasons.

Retrievers Capture Four Major Awards in America East Men's Soccer Selections
Cambridge, Mass. – Three seniors on the UMBC men’s soccer team and the Retriever coaching staff earned top league honors, as the America East Conference announced its major awards and All-Conference squads on Friday, Nov. 7. Oumar Ballo earned his second consecutive Defender of the Year honor, while Mamadou Kansaye was selected as Midfielder of the Year and forward Kay Banjo was tabbed Striker of the Year. Kansaye and Banjo were unanimous selections by the coaches.

Men's Soccer Clinches Share Of AE Title With 5-1 Triumph Over Vermont
BALTIMORE – UMBC senior midfielder Michael DiCesare (Westerville, Ohio) scored three goals as the Retrievers thrashed Vermont, 5-1, and captured at least a share of their second consecutive America East Conference regular season title.The Retrievers improved to 5-0-1 in league play and 9-5-3 overall, while Vermont slipped to 2-3-1, 7-7-1. After wrapping up the regular season at Stony Brook on Nov. 5 UMBC will host an America East Tournament semi-final contest on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Men's Soccer Blanks Binghamton, 1-0, to Clinch AE Playoff Berth
BALTIMORE – The UMBC men’s soccer team clinched a spot in the America East Tournament for the eighth consecutive year as the Retrievers blanked the visiting Binghamton Bearcats, 1-0, at Retriever Soccer Park. Despite getting off 26 shots, UMBC’s lone goal came on a successful penalty kick by senior midfielder Mamadou Kansaye (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) in the 33rd minute.

Newark, Del. – UMBC junior midfielder Joseph Pratt was credited with the game’s lone goal in the 80th minute and red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Billy Heavner shutout the third-ranked scoring offense in the nation as the Retrievers defeated No. 23 Delaware, 1-0, at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.The victory was the 250th at UMBC for Head Coach Pete Caringi in his 24th season at the helm.

UMBC Unanimously Tabbed 2014 America East Men's Soccer Favorite
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Winner of three of the last four America East titles, the UMBC Retrievers have been unanimously picked as the 2014 favorite in the conference's men's soccer preseason coaches' poll, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. UMBC senior back Oumar Ballo was named to the 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced earlier today by NSCAATV.com on the “2014 NSCAA College Soccer Review Show.” Head Coach Pete Caringi’s UMBC Retrievers, the two-time defending America East Conference champions, were selected No. 19 in the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason College Rankings.

Phil Saunders Makes Professional Soccer Debut In Iceland
BALTIMORE –Former UMBC goalkeeper Phil Saunders (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) has signed a contract with BÍ Bolungarvík of the Icelandic First Division. The former 2012 America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player made professional debut on July 19 and earned the victory in the team’s 6-4 victory over Tindastóll.

Men's Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule; Five '13 NCAA Squads Highlight Slate
BALTIMORE – The UMBC men’s soccer program will compete against five teams that reached the 2013 NCAA Championships during their 2014 campaign, head coach Pete Caringi, Jr. announced today. The two-time defending America East Conference champions will also face eight squads that finished amongst in the top 50 in winning percentage in 2013. The Retrievers led the nation in winning percentage last season with a 16-1-3 (.875) mark.
