Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC junior midfielder Stephen Ho (North Potomac, Md./Wootton) was named America East Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games ending Sept. 15, 2013.
A Retriever player has now captured the award in the first three weeks of the 2013 campaign. Senior Pete Caringi III (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) was honored for games ending Sept. 1 and Sept. 8.
Ho scored a career-best two goals in the Retrievers' 4-1 victory at Radford on Saturday, Sept. 14. He scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute to give UMBC a 1-0 lead and then finished a two-way passing play as the Retrievers retook a 2-1 lead just 110 seconds into the second half.
Ho's previous goal was a game-winner in a 1-0 win at Stony Brook in 2012. The former walk-on is tied for second on the team with 7 points (2-3-7) on the campaign.
The Retrievers (5-0-0), ranked No. 17 in Top Drawer Soccer and No. 21 in College Soccer News, host Navy on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
